IHG Hotels & Resorts is expanding its footprint in the Montréal region with a mix of new openings and major renovations, placing a clear emphasis on upgraded dining and hospitality experiences.
The group’s voco Montréal hotel, a new-build property slated to open in 2027, will introduce a full-service restaurant and lobby lounge as part of its premium downtown offering. The new hotel marks the brand’s first ground-up development in Canada and will be located near the Palais des Congrès, a key area for both business and leisure travelers. The property will include 55 guest rooms, but it’s the public-facing restaurant and lounge that are expected to be the centerpiece of the guest experience. Specific culinary concepts have not yet been announced, but IHG has confirmed the focus will be on approachable, locally inspired dining paired with elevated service in a relaxed setting.
Meanwhile, the Holiday Inn Laval Montréal, located at 2900 Boul. Le Carrefour in Laval is undergoing a $29 million renovation following severe flood damage. The overhaul, which is scheduled to be completed by December 2025, includes updates to all 176 guest rooms as well as a full reimagining of the hotel’s food and beverage offerings. These changes align with the H5 design standards, a refreshed Holiday Inn brand identity focused on modern comforts and communal spaces. The property’s on-site restaurant and bar are expected to reopen with a new look and revised menu following the renovation.
This activity follows IHG’s broader strategy to revamp and grow its portfolio across Quebec. The InterContinental Montréal, located at 360 Rue Saint-Antoine O, also part of the IHG network, will temporarily close for 14 to 18 months beginning in February 2026 for a full-scale renovation. That project includes the redesign of its two signature dining venues: Osco!, a Provençal-inspired restaurant, and Sarah B., a bar known for its absinthe-forward menu.
Together, these developments reflect IHG’s strategic push to elevate its hospitality offerings through high-quality, in-house dining concepts. From boutique-style voco experiences to refreshed full-service Holiday Inns, the group is positioning its Montreal-area properties to serve both international travelers and local guests looking for thoughtful food and drink options in modern settings.
