Kinton Ramen, a Canadian ramen chain known for authentic Japanese flavors, is planning new locations in eastern Canada, including Quebec City and Ottawa.
The company’s upcoming expansion will include at least 12 locations currently under development, with a focus on sites along the 401 corridor from Scarborough to Ottawa, according to Retail Insider. Nanaimo and potentially Sudbury are also on the development list. Karalyn White, Senior Director of Franchising at Kinka Family, tells Retail Insider that customers can expect the same core menu across all locations while seasonal specials continue to rotate.
Kinton Ramen opened its first standalone location in 2012 and is part of the Kinka Family, which operates multiple restaurant brands. Known for consistent quality and bold flavors, the chain has grown to over 50 locations across Canada as of 2025, with 14 new restaurants opening in the past year, marking a record for the company.
The brand is pursuing an aggressive growth strategy, with at least 20 new locations planned for 2026. Twelve of these are already under development, while the company hopes to secure sites for eight additional stores. Expansion targets include southwestern Ontario, the Golden Horseshoe, major suburban centers, and parts of eastern Canada east of Quebec.
Kinton Ramen offers a range of soups, including pork, chicken, beef, and vegetarian broths, paired with thin, thick, or low-carb noodles. Signature options include Original, Shoyu, Miso, and Spicy flavors, with seasonal specials rotating regularly. The chain also serves sides like Tokyo Fries and gyoza, as well as desserts like yuzu cheesecake and matcha ice cream.
Founded by executive chef Aki Urata, Kinton Ramen emphasizes accessibility while maintaining authentic Japanese flavors. The company’s approach has attracted both strong franchise interest and a growing customer base. Confirmed locations in Quebec City, Ottawa, and other eastern Canadian cities are a priority for 2026 as the brand continues to expand nationwide.
