Loto-Québec is moving forward with a $150 million, 200-room hotel adjacent to the Casino de Montréal, located at 1 Avenue du Casino, which will be operated by the Le Germain Hotels brand.
Although full food and beverage plans haven’t been revealed, a restaurant is part of the vision. A representative from Germain Hotels tells What Now Montreal that a restaurant is planned for the hotel, though it’s still too early to confirm specifics about the concept, chef, or style of cuisine. Still, the inclusion of a dining venue suggests the development could become a high-end dining destination on the island.
The hotel was first announced in a press release issued last year, with Loto Québec selecting Germain Hotels as its operating partner following a competitive proposal process. Both parties emphasized their commitment to providing a great guest experience and showcasing local flair.
“We’re very proud to join forces with Germain Hotels, a local family business that is, like us, passionate about customer service,” Jean-François Bergeron, President and CEO of Loto Québec, said in the release. “The hotel will make the Casino de Montréal a more complete and appealing entertainment destination.”
The hotel will be situated within Parc Jean Drapeau, renowned for its scenic riverfront, lush green spaces, and proximity to major Montreal events, including the Canadian Grand Prix. The building will aim to preserve the park’s natural beauty, with architecture that maintains a low horizon line and blends into the surroundings.
Construction is ongoing with an anticipated opening date set for sometime in 2026. Loto Québec will retain full ownership of the hotel and reinvest all profits back into the province.
“We couldn’t dream of a better location to offer accommodation options, next to the Casino de Montréal and close to where some of the biggest events in the city are held,” Hugo and Marie Pier Germain, Vice President of Operations and Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Germain Hotels, said in the release.
Although the full amenity list has yet to be announced, the upcoming restaurant is expected to serve both hotel guests and Casino visitors year-round, adding to the entertainment hub already established on the island.
