Maison BaultBerri, a new cafe-bistro from chef and content creator Laurent Dagenais, is set to open in Montreal at 1275 Berri Street, located inside the Empire boutique in the Latin Quarter.
The company’s newest project is a collaboration between Dagenais and long-time friend Phil Grisé, according to Silo57. The cafe is scheduled to open on October 25, 2025, and will offer a warm, casual setting with around 40 seats. Guests can expect a daytime menu featuring coffees, matchas, smoothies, salads, soups, sandwiches, and pastries, all made with fresh, daily produce from top-tier local suppliers.
This marks Dagenais’ second food and beverage venture following the opening of Limousine in Saint-Lambert, previously reported by What Now Montreal. That project opened a couple of months ago and represents his first step into restaurant ownership. With Maison BaultBerri, Dagenais shifts toward a more accessible, all-day cafe experience located in a high-foot-traffic downtown area.
The cafe is situated within Empire, a boutique located in a section of the former Archambault building, a well-known landmark in the city. The name “Maison BaultBerri” pays homage to that legacy while also signaling a new chapter for the space. Its setting in the Latin Quarter positions it within reach of students, office workers, and nearby residents.
The concept focuses on fresh, approachable offerings that reflect Dagenais’ culinary philosophy. The space is designed to function as a versatile environment for eating, working, relaxing, or meeting with friends, offering something beyond just food and drink.
“The brand-new [Empire] store is opening soon, featuring a unique space created in collaboration with [Laurent Dagenais] and inspired by the neighborhood’s history and the iconic Archambault store—[Maison Baultberri] is designed as a cozy, welcoming spot to grab a coffee, enjoy a bite, get some work done, or simply unwind, making it a new downtown destination you won’t want to miss,” according to a recent Instagram post.
