A new German-inspired beer hall called Wünderbar will debut later this year in Montreal at 6529 Saint-Hubert Street.

This is the latest from the team behind Snowbird Tiki Bar and Spaghetti Western, according to an announcement on social media. Owner Anthoni Jodoin tells What Now Montreal that they hope to open in July/August in soft-open mode to iron out any hiccups and have a grand official opening in October 2025 in time for this year’s Oktoberfest. When Wünderbar debuts later this year, customers can expect a 3,000-square-foot space with plenty of food and beers to create a festive atmosphere.

Jodoin tells What Now that there will be large communal wooden tables conducive to conversation, similar to those in typical Munich beer halls. The space will also feature a games area and a private room on the mezzanine. To drink, Wünderbar will have a large selection of local and imported beers on tap, as well as some simple dining options such as giant pretzels, European hot dogs, flammekueche, donair, currywurst, etc. All this will be combined in a festive and unpretentious atmosphere ideal for celebrating in a group.

This one-of-a-kind concept will be the first of its kind in Montreal, and Jodoin told What Now that he is “very excited to be bringing this project to Plaza St-Hubert, a rapidly changing artery in Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie, a neighborhood I’ve lived in for 10 years and love.” Jodoin says he wanted to open this concept because he loves this kind of place and wants to introduce it to Quebec, where it’s not often found.
