Punjab Canteen, a North Indian cuisine restaurant known for fresh, home-style dishes, is getting ready to open even more locations after recently debuting a new location in Laval at 2640 Boulevard Daniel-Johnson.
The company’s sixth location recently opened in the former home of Salades Sensations. While this location opened only earlier this month, the company is already scouting additional sites. Punjab Canteen offers a variety of classic North Indian dishes, including butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, paneer tikka, amritsari kulcha, chana bhatura, as well as street food and Indo-Chinese fusion options.
This Laval location is part of Punjab Canteen’s ongoing expansion across the Montreal area. In addition to Laval, the brand has announced that new locations will open soon, according to its website, though it’s unclear exactly where they will be located. These upcoming openings are designed to bring the same home-style flavors and approachable menu to more neighborhoods.
Founded by Niraj Gautam and co-founders Eswar, Dinesh, and Diksha, Punjab Canteen began by acquiring a small family-owned restaurant and growing it with a fresh menu and updated interior. Existing locations on Queen Mary Road, Liege Ouest Street, Lasalle, Beaubien, and Vaudreuil-Dorion have built a loyal following for their authentic flavors and casual dining experience.
The menu features North Indian staples such as butter chicken, malai chaap, chicken tikka masala, paneer tikka, amritsari kulcha, and a variety of vegetarian and meat options. Customers can also enjoy street food dishes like samosas, pakoras, chaat, and pani puri, as well as Indo-Chinese favorites including veg Manchurian and chicken noodles. Once the company expands to additional locations, more people will have the opportunity to try this delicious, one-of-a-kind food.
