Restaurant Nozy, a cozy Japanese eatery known for its homestyle Teishoku meals, is relocating to Montreal’s Little Italy at 156 St Zotique Est.
The new location is taking over a space in the heart of Little Italy after the restaurant closed its original Saint-Henri location at 3568 Rue Notre-Dame Ouest on July 13, according to the company’s social media. While the restaurant originally planned to reopen in August, the timeline appears to have been delayed, and an official reopening date has not yet been confirmed. When it does reopen, guests can expect the same carefully prepared Japanese menu, friendly service, and laid-back atmosphere that earned Nozy a loyal following.
Founded in 2015 by chef-owner Nozomu Takeuchi, Restaurant Nozy built its reputation on delivering the kind of Japanese cuisine commonly found in homes across Japan. Originally from Hokkaido, Takeuchi set out to offer a welcoming neighbourhood restaurant that emphasized quality, authenticity, and accessibility. Over the years, Nozy has been consistently regarded as one of Montreal’s top destinations for Japanese food.
The restaurant features a traditional Teishoku-style menu, where main dishes are served with rice, miso soup, and seasonal sides. Popular starters include beef tataki, sashimi, and karaage, while signature mains range from Chirashi salmon and Kaisen Don to Snow Crab Kani Meshi and Uni Ikura Don. Guests can also enjoy a Friday night omakase experience, offering a curated tasting menu prepared by the chef.
Nozy’s relocation places it in a vibrant, food-forward neighbourhood, offering increased visibility and a strong match for its community-centric dining model. The Little Italy location will maintain its minimalist aesthetic, limited seating, and direct customer engagement, which have long been part of its appeal.
