Sunny Foodmart, a multicultural grocery store chain with on-site dining options in the Greater Toronto Area, is developing a new location in Ottawa’s West End on Palladium Drive.
Markham-based Sunny Group applied earlier this year to the City of Ottawa to develop a new location within an 85,000 square-foot shopping center on Palladium Drive, near Tanger Outlets, according to the Ottawa Business Journal. The proposed plaza would include four commercial buildings, 237 parking spaces, and connections to Campeau Drive via Kanata West Centre Drive and Palladium Drive via Cabela’s Way. The plan also features a new indoor playground, which was recently approved. This would mark the second indoor amusement facility in the area, following a separate application by the owner of Hazeldean Mall to open an amusement park in Kanata.
“The proposed development is a large commercial plaza that consists of a commercial complex including a grocery store, an indoor playground, and multiple tenant spaces and three retail buildings with multiple commercial units,” according to the site plan control application summary.

Over the years, it has expanded its offerings to include Halal meats and a wide range of international products. With locations in North York, Markham, and Etobicoke, the chain now operates multiple stores, each featuring departments for produce, meat, seafood, bakery, and hot prepared foods.
