The Black Sheep Inn, a legendary live-music venue and down-home pub, has officially reopened in Wakefield, at 753 Riverside Drive under new ownership by local restaurateur Christina Stobert.
Stobert has taken over operations following months of renovations, according to the Ottawa Citizen. While an exact schedule for all upcoming shows has not been released, the main room is already booking performances, with tickets available at blacksheepinn.ca. Guests can expect a full bar and casual pub-style food, alongside live concerts, which helps maintain the venue’s reputation as a local entertainment hub.
For years, the Black Sheep Inn was run by Paul Symes and became a key destination for live music in the Outaouais. It closed during the pandemic, leaving a gap that was partially filled by temporary live-music offerings at Motel Chelsea and Kaffe 1870. The reopening marks a revival of the historic venue and a return to the city’s central cultural and musical hub.
The building has undergone renovations to update the main performance space, bar, and seating areas. Plans also include the development of an in-house restaurant, a back tavern, and hostel-style rooms on the upper floors. These updates aim to provide both live entertainment and hospitality services in a single venue, while maintaining the casual, down-home atmosphere.
The menu will feature classic pub dishes and shareable plates designed for casual dining, with an emphasis on local ingredients and seasonal offerings. A wide range of beers, wines, and cocktails will complement live performances and social gatherings, enhancing the overall experience for visitors.
