Wendy’s, the long-standing quick-service restaurant brand, is expanding its presence in dense Canadian markets as it advances its urban strategy in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver.

The company recently reached its 25th location in Quebec and plans to more than double its footprint in the province to 50 restaurants by 2030, according to Retail Insider. While exact addresses for the next Quebec openings have not yet been released, Wendy’s has stated that the province remains a key focus in its national growth plan. This expansion aligns with the company’s effort to introduce compact, urban-friendly formats designed for walk-by traffic, delivery demand, and extended hours.

The brand’s urban development strategy includes both traditional stores and non-traditional builds in locations such as airports, malls, colleges, and gas stations. These formats are intended to serve younger customers and those in transit through heavy corridors. Wendy’s has emphasized that the urban model enables the company to reach neighborhoods where large-footprint restaurants are not feasible.

Wendy’s has been operating in Canada for more than 50 years, beginning with its first restaurant in Hamilton in the 1970s. The company’s current approach centers on meeting customers where and how they prefer to eat, which has contributed to a shift toward smaller dining rooms, digital-first setups, and increased delivery accessibility. These changes are supported by the Global Next Gen design, a platform built around speed, efficient kitchen flow, and streamlined fulfillment. New units prioritize kiosk ordering, mobile app use, and integrated delivery operations.

When these new locations open, customers can expect the full Wendy’s menu, including signature items like the Baconator, Spicy Chicken Sandwich, and more. Fresh salads, chicken nuggets, sides, and seasonal offerings will also be available. With a focus on convenience, digital innovation, and classic menu favorites, Wendy’s continued expansion in Quebec offers an accessible, modern dining experience for both longtime fans and new customers.
