Los Churrascos Restaurant demonstrated 13 food code violations during the routine inspection on September 8. While there were no repeat violations, the Latin food facility received a low score.
Inspection Findings
The inspector reported that the person in charge of the restaurant did not demonstrate proper food safety knowledge. While suggesting a free basic food handler class, they stated that a follow-up inspection will be conducted to ensure the operator’s knowledge of food safety.
The food inspector observed fish in a sealed bag in the line drawer cooler at the food facility. Clamato juice was stored inside ice used for customer drinks at Los Churrascos Restaurant.
The restaurant stored raw eggs on the shelf above ready-to-eat bread in a walk-in refrigerator. Raw chicken was stored above in-house-made salsas.
The on-site inspector measured the chlorine sanitizers at 0 ppm in the dishwasher. Multiple lids with food debris were stored as clean on the clean shelf of the restaurant. Date labels were missing on tamales made on September 5 in the low-reach-in freezer of the dry storage room.
Inspectors found two raid bottles in the kitchen area of Los Churrascos Restaurant. One was kept next to the Clamato juice, and the other in the prep area. The inspector further noted that many plastic containers with food were cooling at room temperature.
Several buckets without names were holding dry ingredients in the dry storage room. A bucket containing food was found on the floor in the walk-in refrigerator of the facility. Tongs were stored on the oven’s handle in the cook’s line at the food facility.
Some single-use containers without a handle were found inside bulk ingredients. The inspector observed several cutting boards with black stains and deep grooves that were not easily cleanable were used in the kitchen.
