The Tennessee Department of Health conducted routine health inspections at different restaurants on Tuesday. Pupuseria Metapan scored 77 due to multiple food code violations. Inspectors observed incorrect food storage practices, unlabeled spray bottles, and other violations.

The Salvadoran facility receives Nashville diners for pupusas, curtido, horchata, and more delicacies. However, it was given a score of 77 due to nine different violations.

- According to the report, boxes of raw shell eggs were stored on shelves above raw vegetables at the Salvadoran cuisine restaurant’s walk-in cooler.
- Pupuseria Metapan’s staff was found reheating cooked chicken on the steam table. The report stated the rehearing was done at a temperature of 75°F.
- Beans and cheese pupusa mix, cooked carrots, and cooked beans measured between 44°F and 45°F in the walk-in cooler.
- Raw shell eggs were found to be at 78°F in an open carton stored on the Nashville facility’s shelf.
- The inspection report by the Tennessee Department of Health highlighted that an unlabeled chemical spray bottle with clear chemicals was stored hanging from a trash can at Pupuseria Metapan.
- Inspectors mentioned in the report that an employee was handling a coffee cup placed on a drawer cooler next to the grill.
- Cardboard boxes were used for table tops in the Nashville establishment’s kitchen.
- Food debris was seen on the shelves in the walk-in cooler.

Follow-Up Inspection
The inspection report of Pupuseria Metapan shows that the Tennessee Department of Health will conduct a follow-up. Only one violation related to the maintenance of the walk-in cooler specifies that a follow-up will happen for it on October 17.
