On October 28, the Tennessee Department of Health conducted food safety inspections across various food establishments in Nashville and the metro areas. According to the health inspection report, one Indian eatery in Murfreesboro, UGADI Indian Grill, failed to meet health standards and was given a low inspection score.

UGADI Indian Grill is known for its dishes like Samosa Chaat, Veggie Chicken Manchurian, Mysore Masala Dosa, and Ugadi Special Tawa Grilled Fish. However, the Tennessee Department of Health observed around six violations at UGADI Indian Grill on October 28.

According to the inspection report, a number of priority violations were noted at UGADI Indian Grill. Due to this, the active managerial control needed improvement at the Indian food facility.
The report further states that an employee at UGADI Indian Grill was seen handling their phone and then using a clean pan. They made contact with the pan’s inner portion without properly washing their hands first.
A storage table blocked the handwashing sink by the dish machine at the food establishment. Multiple vacuum-sealed packs of thawed tilapia were observed in rice at the Indian facility. This was even after clear instructions to remove the pack before thawing, the report mentioned.
UGADI Indian Grill’s report added that a pan of cooked chicken was not properly date-marked. The item was cooked on Sunday, October 26, at the Indian food facility.
As per the report, food was stored on the floor in UGADI Indian Grill’s walk-in freezer.

Follow-Up Inspection

The report shows that a follow-up is required at UGADI Indian Grill, and it will be conducted within the next 10 days. The food establishment must correct all the violations before the reinspection.
