Barbara’s Home Cooking Prepares to Serve Its Final Dinner

A beloved eatery on Old Hillsboro Road, Barbara’s Home Cooking has served the Franklin community for nearly three decades. Founded in 1997, Barbara’s Home Cooking was created with the purpose of serving comforting, everyday family meals and a home-like dining experience.

Barbara’s Home Cookin’ team announced the heartbreaking news of closing on Facebook. “It is with deepest affection and appreciation that we announce that after nearly 30 years of serving the middle Tennessee community,” said the post. The post mentioned, “Barbra’s Home Cookin’ will be permanently closing as of December 31, 2025.”

From Sunday lunches after church to catering weddings and holiday feasts, the eatery has handled all kinds of events for the community. The team expressed deep gratitude and said, “We are forever grateful that we had the opportunity to play even the tiniest role in some of your life’s most precious moments with your loved ones.”

Barbara’s team also raised concerns about the employment of staff after the eatery’s closure. The restaurant urged, “Closing one chapter and beginning another can be daunting, and so we humbly ask that if you know of any employment opportunities, please think of us!”

“We did not arrive at this decision lightly — in fact, for some of our staff, Barbara’s has been the only employment we’ve yet known in this wonderful country,” the team stated

The announcement on social media deeply saddened Barbara’s Home Cooking’s loyal fans. Several customers and patrons flooded the social media post with heartfelt messages.

“We’ve been coming there for decades!! My son’s 10th birthday cake was the Strawberry Cake from Ms Barbara’s. He is now 32 – with a child of his own,” said one of the customers. “The fondest of memories there, including when Ms Barbara was there – & called us by name. We will miss this iconic place, which holds precious memories for us!”

Another loyal patron wrote, “So sad! One of my favorite restaurants & one of my favorite memories of old Nashville/Franklin. How do we connect about employment opportunities?” The team invited the community to visit one last time before the restaurant closes. The closure of the eatery will leave a hole in the heart of the community and its loyal fans.
