According to recent building permits and stated on its brand new website, Benji’s Bagel and Coffee House is slated to open at 6108 Robertson Avenue in West Nashville from husband and wife duo Niko and Becca Bendaj. The pair has roots in Manhattan’s restaurant industry and will bring authentic New York-style bagels, coffee, breakfast sandwiches, and pastries to Music City.
Although an exact grand opening date is not yet confirmed, the concept is well on its way to opening winter of this year or early in 2024 at the latest. Named after their son, Benji’s Bagel and Coffee House has been posting photos of its progress and sneak peeks at potential menu items on its Instagram page since June.
Even though the Bendaj’s both have prior industry experience having managed restaurants and studied at the Culinary Institute of America, this is reportedly their first time owning a concept.
“My husband and I have been dreaming about this opportunity for a decade. After moving to Nashville three years ago we decided it’s now or never. Time to stop talking and make it happen. We will be offering a variety of bagels and schmears and baked goods all made in-house from start to finish,” Becca Bendaj told What Now Nashville.
“We are thrilled to introduce you to Benji’s Bagel & Coffee House, named after our carb-loving 4-year-old son. Our passion for hospitality, people, and love for bagels has led us here, and we can’t wait to share it with our new community,” the BBCH website shares.
The online menu provides an insight into the future offerings at BBCH, including beverages locally sourced from Elle & Jo Tea Co., coffee provided by LaVazza, and a robust food menu offering classic bagels like everything, sesame, jalapeno cheddar, and more unique flavors like Za’atar and whipped feta and olive flavored schmear. Focaccia sandwiches will also be a highlighted option, as well as housemade quiche.
Stay tuned for additional updates about the business on its website and Instagram page.
