Black Dynasty Secret Ramen House is preparing to set out on its own, with plans to open a standalone brick-and-mortar location in East Nashville.

The team, who have been operating in the Bearded Iris Sylvan Supply taproom since 2021, announced the news on Instagram earlier this week.

“Small bar, small menu, a few more bowls, a couple more apps, a place where you can crush real ramen and party with your people and let your freak flag fly,” the announcement stated. “A safe space for our community, a spot we can call our own. No more stupid QR codes, no chandeliers, full-service and where we can show you what we’re really made of.”

Black Dynasty Ramen’s last day of service at Bearded Iris will be Sept. 26. From there, they have teased potential pop-ups, residencies and “shenanigans” as they prepare the new space for opening.

Co-owner Troy Scott told What Now Nashville that they are not releasing an exact address for the East Nashville location yet. They are currently in the process of developing the menu expansion. Customers can expect to see about 12 new items on the menu.

Scott said they will have a better idea of the opening timeline in the next few months, but he estimates they are about eight to 10 months out from opening the standalone restaurant.

Currently, the ramen spot serves dishes in which everything is made from scratch, including noodles, broth and toppings. The current menu features a couple small plates and both a meat and a vegan ramen bowl option.

The announcement comes only weeks after news that Bearded Iris is being acquired by Memphis-based Wiseacre Brewing. The Bearded Iris team also announced that the Sylvan Supply taproom will shutter on Sept. 26.
