Terry Black’s Barbecue is opening its first location in Nashville next year. However, Black Family Hospitality will be introducing another concept to the city, as well, co-owner Mike Black shared in a phone interview with What Now Nashville. Opal’s Oysters will open beside Terry Black’s Barbecue at 1220 Rosa L. Parks Blvd in Germantown.
“When we first went out to Nashville and we were looking at the different areas, we came across Germantown and just loved what it had to offer,” Black said. “We loved how close it was to downtown and Broadway and the action.”
Opal’s Oysters currently has one location in Waco. The spot is a nod to Black’s grandmother, Opal Faye Hendershot.
“The restaurant is a living love letter to the Hendershot Family’s coastal gatherings, which have taken place in Corpus Christi every July since 1978,” the Opal’s Oysters website states. “Each year, several generations of extended family have come together to swim, play, shoot fireworks from the beach and gather around the table for family meals. Every Saturday night was spent sitting on the seawall, eating homemade ice cream with family and friends. They were carefree, sun-soaked days full of joy and community. The best days. Opal’s Oysters aims to channel the spirit of those summertime memories and offer a beach getaway when you’re in Waco, Texas.”
The spot serves coastal cuisine and cocktails, including oysters; cold plates and salads such as tuna tartare, smoked salmon lox and citrus ceviche; lobster bisque; clam chowder; lobster rolls; steamed mussels; seared scallops; and Chilean sea bass. There is also a caviar service.
Black said they expect to open the two concepts in Q3 of 2026. Construction is still to come on the space.
