Calypso Cafe, a Nashville institution in healthy, casual dining, will fully reopen its West Nashville location at 3307 Charlotte Ave, announce owners David and Sally Parker.
Joining the Berry Hill location at 700 Thompson Lane, the Charlotte Ave location will resume dine-in service after acting as a prep and catering kitchen since the pandemic. Upon taking ownership of the 37-year-old local institution in January 2025, David Parker assured guests that his plans included an expansion of Calypso Cafe’s presence in Nashville. He introduced takeout and delivery from the Charlotte Ave location in 2025 while planning toward a full reopening.
“Since we took ownership a year ago, we hear consistent requests from the community to reopen in various neighborhoods,” said David Parker in a statement. “We assured our guests that we’d keep all the great things about Calypso in place – the food, the atmosphere, and the people. The one change we wanted to make was bringing Calypso back to more areas. Reopening the Charlotte Ave location was our first promise to keep, and I’m so excited that it’s happening soon.”
An opening date is anticipated by spring, and once open, diners will be able to visit for dine-in lunch and dinner as well as bar service. In the meantime, takeout and delivery orders are still available Monday – Saturday, 11 a.m. – 8:45 p.m.
Calypso Cafe is known for its rotisserie chicken with house Jamaican Curry and Caribbean BBQ sauces, Cuban black beans, Callaloo greens, and a host of other fresh sides, salads, appetizers, sandwiches, and desserts, all freshly made. Meals are washed down with a version of Nashville’s beloved fruit tea. Calypso Cafe was founded in 1989 by Allison and Phil Brooks, set out to help Nashvillians ‘eat better, be better.’ In 2025, the brand changed hands for the first time in its nearly four decades of business when the Brooks’ retired and David Parker, their cousin, became owner. Still a local, family-owned business, Calypso Cafe operates two locations, 700 Thompson Lane and 3307 Charlotte Ave, for dine-in, takeout, delivery, and catering.
