City Barbeque appears to be making plans to join Murfreesboro, according to recent Planning Commission documents. Attached documents indicate plans for a 2,972-square-foot, single-story restaurant on a 1.43-acre lot along North Thompson Lane, on the corner of Armory Drive.

Current plans showcase a largely brick exterior with an outdoor patio covered with awning.

City Barbeque, founded by Rick Malir in 1999, has 75 locations across Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina and Wisconsin. Currently, there are no other locations in Tennessee.

The spot focuses on BBQ-based fare. Menu items include BBQ sandwiches, smokehouse tacos, chicken, St. Louis ribs, salads and a variety of meats.

As of now, an opening timeline for the spot in Murfreesboro remains unclear. It appears that the location is still in the early stages of development, according to Planning Commission documents with the City of Murfreesboro.
