East Nashville’s Inglewood neighborhood is getting another new businesses to the bustling area. According to permits filed this week, local microbrewery Crazy Gnome is expanding with its second location at 1005 W. Kirkland Ave., just after owner Grayson Miller announced the brand’s sister cidery, Cyanide Cider, would be unveiled in Woodbine earlier this year.
An opening timeline for the new location is forthcoming, but it is likely to take six months to a year to complete the necessary renovations. Permits note the value of the construction is $510,000 for interior and exterior work on two buildings.
The Inglewood area has seen recent growth from many local businesses looking to expand, including Ladybird Taco, M.L. Rose, and Roy’s Royal Room. The East Nashville neighborhood combines a surefire recipe for success including a quaint residential vibe, swanky bars and restaurants, and youthful energy.
What Now Nashville spoke with Miller about the details behind his upcoming expansion.
“The cool thing about the Kirkland space is that even once we open, it’s not the end of the expansion. We have a lot of plans for this parcel, and a lot of other things in store for the property, including a proper kitchen and a full menu. I would say something close to what we currently do for food, just elevated,” Miller said in a phone call.
“I’ve said it before, but boy are we excited about the parking at our Kirkland location. I find that as an East Nashville resident myself, parking in this part of town is just exhausting. Even though it’s a small amenity, we are so pumped for it,” Miller said.
According to its website, Crazy Gnome’s food menu is limited, offering “a variety of chips and minimal hot food options,” but encourages customers to bring outside food or partake in the food trucks occasionally parked onsite at the brewery. The new location of Crazy Gnome will feature a large kitchen space to eventually offer a full menu of exciting food options, however as Miller noted, specific details are forthcoming.
Crazy Gnome first opened in August 2020 in East’s Edgefield neighborhood, just after the pandemic and the 2020 tornado hit the area. The brewery and taproom offers a variety of original beers ranging from German Pilsners to American IPA’s, hosts weekly trivia and comedy nights, and may start canning its beers for the first time at its new, larger location in Inglewood.
