A new sports bar with a unique twist is on its way to Franklin. The ownership behind Asian grocery store Indian Bazaar and food court Chai Samosa is bringing Amruth to the adjacent space at 330 Mayfield Dr., Suite C8.

Co-owner Venu Alokam told What Now Nashville that the spot will serve Asian, Indian and American cuisine as well as liquor and beer. Expect to see classic sports bar menu items like sandwiches, flatbreads and nachos, but with Indian fusion elements.

Alokam emigrated from India in 1998 and he moved to Franklin in 2000. After opening Indian Bazaar and Chai Samosa in Franklin, he detected a gap in the market for a bar scene with Asian and Indian influences.

“The Indian community in the area has been growing for several years. I feel like there’s an opportunity to have a good sports bar for Indians and others in the Franklin area,” Alokam said. “There are a lot of other sports bars around this place, but this is completely unique.”

Alokam and his business partners filed paperwork with the City of Franklin to obtain a liquor license earlier this summer. They are targeting a fall opening, though an exact opening date is still forthcoming.

Moving forward, Alokam sees potential for growth in the Nashville region.

“We have a lot of community in the Nashville area and we will definitely expand to other places if everything works well,” Alokam said.
