Creamery and scoop shop Hattie Jane’s is heading to a 900-square-foot space at 2300 Riverside Avenue, permits indicate. CEO Claire Crowell confirmed the location in a phone interview with What Now Nashville and shared that they have no set timeline for opening yet.
“We anticipate it taking a few months to build out,” Crowell said.
The brand has been around since 2016, when Crowell founded Hattie Jane’s — named after her daughter — in 2016. Hattie Jane’s now has four locations, including spots in Columbia, Murfreesboro, Donelson and the Assembly Food Hall.
“We’ve been looking in the East Nashville area for a long time, but we really wanted to be in a neighborhood,” Crowell said. “It is full of families. That’s our bread and butter. It’s also got great complimentary businesses and concepts in the area, so I think it’ll be a home run.”
The forthcoming location in East Nashville is expected to be similar to the Donelson location, featuring the full menu of flavors. Hattie Jane’s features flavors like Nana’s Pudding (bananas, marshmallow fluff and vanilla wafers), Cookie Jar Supreme, Southern Pecan Pie and Goo Goo & Jack (Nashville classic Goo Goo candy, fudge and caramel ripple and Jack Daniels No. 7).
The brand works with local milk from Tennessee cows to produce its ice cream, according to the Hattie Jane’s website.
Crowell said they plan to continue to expand in Middle Tennessee moving forward, though she cannot reveal the location of any more forthcoming stores at this time.
