Kevin and Samantha Jackson have been operating their pizzeria Hometeam Pizza out of Citizen Kitchens for several years. Now, they are ready for their own space.

The Jacksons have signed a lease at 2017 Belmont Blvd, with plans to bring their flagship location — and first solo brick-and-mortar — to the space this fall.

Kevin told What Now Nashville that they were connected with the building owner for the space a couple years ago via a Hometeam customer.

“We really love that neighborhood,” Kevin said. “We tried to open in The Nations because that’s where we started Hometeam, but it just didn’t work out with timing and all the other pizzerias also had the same idea. So we targeted [Belmont] as a fantastic place to be because there’s not much pizza there, and being next to the college campus is pretty awesome.”

Kevin said he and the team are excited to have their own space after operating in a commissary kitchen, where there are limitations to what they can do because of space. At their flagship, Hometeam plans to provide additional menu items that they previously could only serve on a rotating or limited-time basis, including additional pizza options, salads, sandwiches and small-plate appetizers.

The space will be tailored to serving all approaches to pizza, including dine-in, delivery, to-go and pizza-by-the-slice.

“We’re going to use the space to utilize all those functions,” Kevin said. “That will allow us to expand our menu a little bit.”

Ultimately, the Jacksons hope to chart a path toward future growth in the Nashville area. They have watched local brands like Hattie B’s and Edley’s Bar-B-Que expand, and Kevin draws inspiration from those growth stories.

“We really admire some of the local businesses that have grown in this area,” Kevin said. “Our goal is to open a couple locations as well.”

As for their flagship location opening this year, Kevin said they are hoping to open by the beginning of October. They have already started filing permits with Metro, according to city records.

For now, Hometeam Pizza will continue to operate out of Citizen Kitchens until their flagship location is ready to open.
