Philadelphia-based Insomnia Cookies is bringing its late-night sweet treat options to Murfreesboro. The cookie chain lists a location as “coming soon” to 225 N Rutherford Blvd, Suite L, on its website.
Insomnia Cookies currently has four locations open in Tennessee but none in the Greater Nashville area. The locations open currently in the state include one in Johnson City, one in Knoxville and two in Memphis.
Seth Berkowitz founded the brand in 2003 when he was a student at the University of Pennsylvania. Since then, it has expanded to hundreds of locations, including spots in Canada and the United Kingdom. The company celebrated its 300th location opening last fall.
The cookie chain offers a variety of specialty cookies, including double chocolate mint, peanut butter chip, lemon white chocolate and snickerdoodle. There are also vegan and gluten-free options. Other menu items include ice cream, cookie-and-ice-cream sandwiches — or “wiches” — and cookie cakes.
The chain is perhaps best known for its late hours, as suggested by the brand name. The Murfreesboro location is expected to be open from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Monday through Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. Thursday and Friday, 12 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Saturday and 12 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Sunday, according to the Insomnia Cookies website.
As of now, an exact opening timeline is unclear. However, it appears that they are currently hiring, according to “coming soon” signage.
