Bearded Iris Brewing is under new ownership, according to recent beer board filings. It has sold to Wiseacre Brewing, the Nashville Business Journal reported.
Wiseacre Brewing, founded in 2013 by Davin and Kellan Bartosch, is based in Memphis.
“Brothers Davin and Kellan Bartosch dreamed up WISEACRE many moons ago and have been on an extensive quest procuring top-notch experience from around the globe to deliver the crunkest brewery possible in their groovy hometown of Memphis,” the website states. “The brewery name comes from a term of endearment/scolding their grandmother used on the young troublemakers.”
It currently has three taprooms operating in Memphis. Its beer selection features a variety of options, ranging from their award-winning American pilsner Tiny Bomb to hazy IPA Bow Echo.
Bearded Iris Brewing has been open in Nashville since 2014, helmed by founders Kavon Togrye, Paul Vaughn and Matt Miller. Beer options include Pep Talk lager, Homestyle IPA and Wavecraze Topical IPA. It has two taprooms — one in Germantown at 101 Van Buren St. and one at the Sylvan Supply development at 4101 Charlotte Ave., Suite 40. Both taprooms are listed as part of the change of ownership with the Metropolitan Beer Board.
As of now, plans for the future of Bearded Iris under the new ownership remain unclear. What Now Nashville has reached out to Wiseacre Brewing ownership for more details but did not hear back prior to the time of publication.
