According to a recent press release, the local distillery known for its whiskey Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery is opening an on-site restaurant to accompany its spirit offerings, eventually serving lunch, dinner, and catering to private events such as weddings. The space is also undergoing renovations to upgrade the site through the end of the summer, with plans to add new tasting areas, including a semi-private area that will be available for parties. The address of the site is 1414 Clinton St. in the Marathon Village neighborhood.
Though an official grand opening date is unknown, it’s likely that the restaurant and renovations will be completed by September or October of this year. The restaurant’s official name has not yet been determined. The distillery will continue to offer tours and tastings of its spirits daily.
The release notes the lunch menu will feature “a refined twist on comfort food infused with Southern flair and local influences.”
Dishes will include fried green tomatoes, deviled eggs, BBQ carrots, a croque madame sandwich, a Nashville hot crab sandwich, and a double-patty smashburger called “The No. 5.” For dessert, German chocolate cake and peach and cinnamon pound cake will be offered, and a full bar will be included.
Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery co-founders Andy Nelson and Charlie Nelson have named Joey Ray as executive chef. Erica Dahlgren, Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery manager of hospitality, is overseeing both the restaurant and the distillery.
