A recently filed new business application reveals a new concept will soon replace the shuttered J. Christopher’s location at 2100 21st Ave South in Hillsboro Village. Jashan Restaurant will open soon from restaurateur Akshay Grover, the owner of Indian restaurant, Sindoore.
Though an exact opening timeline is not known, the state of the building suggests that the incoming restaurant will require some renovations and a new exterior sign. It’s likely that Jashan will open within a few months, pending permitting and renovation timelines.
Grover’s other business is well known in Music City for its authentic and homemade dishes, including samosas, curries, tandoori-cooked meats, kebabs, and tikka masala. Sindoore even caters for weddings at Centennial Park’s Parthenon.
Menu details for Jashan are forthcoming, however, customers can assume an Indian influence will be present, producing a variety of rich and comforting foods similar to Sindoore’s offerings.
J. Christopher’s, a Georgia-based breakfast and lunch chain, closed in 2022. Before that, the space was home to Tayst, a concept from local chef and owner of Fryce Cream, Jeremy Barlow. Tayst closed in 2012.
An interview with Akshay Grover is forthcoming. The business does not yet have an online presence. This article will be updated with additional information and links to Jashan’s website and social media pages when available.
