Vietnamese-inspired concept Em & Me Cafe has plans to open at 1244 Third Ave. N., joining the Germantown neighborhood, according to a recently filed permit.
The name draws inspiration from the Vietnamese word “em,” which translated to “the younger one,” and “me,” which translated to “mom.” The cafe will draw on memories of the owners’ parents, including their mother’s cooking and their father’s culinary work in a small cafe in Vietnam.
“Coffee and the kitchen were the languages he knew by heart,” the Em & Me website states. “He showed love with his hands, in the way he brewed, in the way he cooked and in the quiet way he took care of us. His lessons, his passion and his way of loving live in us and in every cup we pour and every bite we share.”
The cafe will be “a place where tradition meets new,” offering classic Vietnamese coffee and treats with a modern twist. The concept is designed to tell the story of their immigrant family.
“Em and Mẹ is past and present gathered at one table, with our memories in each cup, and when you step inside and share a seat with us, you help bring a new story to this café,” the website states.
The cafe will aim to create a warm, approachable atmosphere for the Nashville community. It is expected to open in summer 2026.
