Rooster and Lori Beane are bringing a Texas barbecue spot back to their hometown of Smyrna, with plans to open Beane Brothers BBQ and Catering in The Depot District in downtown Smyrna. Rooster took a 15-year lease for the former La Tavola space at 114 Front Street.

Rooster told What Now Nashville that the concept is a nod to plans he made with his late brother, Judge, to open a spot together called Beane Brothers. Both brothers have been active on the barbecue scene in Tennessee and Texas.

Renovations are ongoing in the 2,600-square-foot space. They have plans to put barn wood on the inside, as well as the front and exterior, to make it look and feel like a Texas dive.

Rooster is not new to the area’s culinary scene. He has had restaurants in Franklin and Downtown Nashville, and he and Lori operated a spot in the Fort Worth area in Texas. Rooster also said that they have had wedding and event venues in Texas, something they hope to bring to Tennessee.

At Beane Brothers BBQ, customers can expect to see classic Texas barbecue offerings like brisket, ribs, chicken, sausage, shrimp and pulled pork. Signature sides will include a brisket mac ’n cheese boat and items like fried cheese.

Rooster said they are hoping to open in August.
