Sports Illustrated Resorts is planning to join the Nashville market, according to the brand’s website. The resort brand has plans to open a location at 1600 McGavock St., previously home to Placemakr Music Row, in spring 2026, according to the Nashville Business Journal.
The spot will offer suites as well as amenities like an on-site restaurant, a lounge, a pool and a fitness center.
Sports Illustrated Resorts, designed as a nod to the seven-decade legacy of Sports Illustrated, opened its first resort in 2022 in the Dominican Republic. There is also a location on the way to Tuscaloosa, Ala. The brand has been targeting a variety of properties, ranging from beach resorts to university towns and sports districts.
“Sports Illustrated Resorts is bringing a whole new game to college towns and fan-favorite destinations across the country,” the Sports Illustrated Resorts website states. “Picture multiple stories of legendary amenities and signature spaces that deliver game-day vibes in an iconic setting. Whether cheering for your team or enjoying time together, this is an escape into a world where sports reign supreme – and your favorite season never ends.”
Travel & Leisure Co. and Sports Hospitality Ventures, LLC, are behind the brand’s rollout, which hopes to bring sports-themed resorts to cities across the U.S., according to a release from 2023. In a release to the Business Journal, Travel & Leisure chief operating officer Geoff Richards indicated that they were attracted to Nashville’s gameday, sports and entertainment culture, prompting them to move forward with a project in the city.
“Nashville is home to iconic professional football and hockey teams, and competitive college conferences,” the brand’s website states in its Nashville announcement. “From Sunday game days to playoffs and college rivalries, the city delivers a nonstop calendar of athletic excitement. The resort will be located at the center of it all on Music Row in the heart of Midtown, just one mile from downtown Nashville and the Gulch.”
