Texas-based Terry Black’s Barbecue is bringing its barbecue to Nashville, with plans to open at 1220 Rosa L. Parks Blvd in Germantown, according to filed permits. This will be the first out-of-state expansion for the brand.
“We started looking to expand outside of Texas, and there are so many similarities between Nashville and Austin,” co-owner Mike Black told What Now Nashville. “It’s a cool place. It’s fun and vibrant, and there’s a lot of growth going on there. I went out there and absolutely fell in love with it the first time I went out there.”
Black opened the first Terry Black’s Barbecue with his siblings Christina and Mark in 2014 in Austin. They named the spot after their father, Terry. The barbecue restaurant chain falls under the Black Family Hospitality portfolio.
Since opening the Austin restaurant, the family has expanded to Dallas, Lockhart, Waco and Fort Worth. Terry Black’s Barbecue serves “legendary Central Texas BBQ,” according to the website.
The Nashville location will be larger than the existing locations — Black estimates the space is around 10,000 square feet — and it will feature a larger patio than other locations. Black said the spot will feature an outdoor stage, where they hope to tap into the live music scene in Nashville. There will also be an outdoor bar area and beer garden.
“At the Nashville location, we’re hoping that people will hang out, enjoy music and have an extra drink out on the patio,” Black said.
He told What Now Nashville that they are in the permitting process and are hoping to open the spot in Q3 of 2026.
