The Loading Dock appears to be eyeing yet another space in North Nashville, according to recently filed permits.
The restaurant has filed permits for construction at 906 Buchanan St. with plans to conduct renovations on the interior of the building.
The coffee and café hub first opened in Wedgewood Houston in 2018. It closed its doors on April 27 with plans to reopen in a new location, setting its sights on North Nashville.
Initially, The Loading Dock had announced shortly after the closure that it would move to 1821 Jefferson St. However, the announcement of the new location was followed by an uncertain post on their Instagram, indicating a potential pivot.
“Well folks, I was hoping to start slinging drinks out this window in the next week or so but, after almost two months, we still don’t have a signed lease,” The Loading Dock announced in an Instagram post on June 7. “We will keep hammering away and looking for possible locations. Can’t stop, won’t stop!”
Owner Juan Vega-Romero opened The Loading Dock in 2018 with the local community in mind, from the locally roasted coffee beans it served to the art pieces on its walls. It offered a lineup of drinks including specialty coffee beverages, tea blends and soft drinks. It also features a café-style food menu that features breakfast items, salads and sandwiches. It was known in the Wedgewood Houston area as a community gathering spot.
Although The Loading Dock plans to reopen and was planning for a short hiatus, it is unclear as of now when it plans to return to the Nashville community.
What Now Nashville has reached out to Vega-Romero for more information on the upcoming spot but has yet to receive further information. Stay tuned for updates on this location’s opening.
