Van Leeuwen Ice Cream has another location in the works for Nashville, according to a recent permit filing. The spot is slated to join the Neuhoff development at 1316 Adams St. #111.
This is the second location slated to enter the Nashville market. What Now Nashville previously reported that a spot for the ice cream brand is expected to open this year at 1200 Villa Place #113. These two locations will mark Van Leeuwen’s first foray into the Nashville market.
Founders Ben and Pete Van Leeuwen and Laura O’Neill launched Van Leeuwen Ice Cream in a yellow truck in New York City in 2008. The brand offers a variety of unique ice cream flavors, from dulce de leche brownie to buttermilk berry cornbread, as well as vegan options. It emphasizes simple ingredients in its recipes.
“Nowadays, people can spend so much time on what’s ‘healthy,’ they don’t stop to consider what’s healthy. As far as we’re concerned, happiness is healthiness,” the Van Leeuwen website states. “What could be happier than that magic combination of milk, cream, eggs and cane sugar (or coconuts, cashews and oats for our vegan friends)? Yes, our ice cream has fat. And that’s okay. It’s good-good, not good-bad.”
The ice cream chain currently has more than 70 locations across eight states and Washington, D.C., with a strong presence in its home state of New York. The chain is currently in a state of rapid expansion. In addition to Nashville, it is “coming soon” to other markets across the country, including Atlanta, Charlotte and Florida.
As of now, an opening timeline for the Neuhoff location remains unclear.
