Convenience chain Wawa, known for made-to-order meals as well as its fuel stations, has received approval for a preliminary master development plan in Gallatin at 1195 Long Hollow Pike, according to documents from the Gallatin Municipal Planning Commission’s March 24 meeting.
Documents indicate plans to build a Wawa on a 3.53-acre site. The plans include a 6,374-square-foot building for food service, as well as a drive-thru, 10 fuel pumps and EV charging areas.
Construction is expected to begin in August and Wawa hopes to open the location in May 2026.
Wawa locations serve items like fresh coffee, baked goods, beverages and breakfast sandwiches. They also offer lunch and dinner options such as built-to-order wraps, pizza, burgers, chicken sandwiches, quesadillas, sandwiches and burritos.
The Pennsylvania-based convenience chain has grown to more than 1,000 locations across the nation, with a strong presence on the East Coast.
“Wawa is a privately held, family-owned company with 200+ years in American business. Our story is rooted in values, driven by purpose and bound for growth,” the Wawa website states.
It has yet to open a location in the Nashville market, but plans to do so have been in the works for a long time. Wawa is expected to begin opening sites in the area this year.
Previously, What Now Nashville reported on sites expected to come to Springfield and Murfreesboro. Wawa also filed permits for a Hermitage location just this past month.
