After losing its Mid-City location last year, Brown Butter Southern Kitchen is coming back with a new name and location in Gretna. Co-owner Simon Beck is planning to reopen his Southern cuisine concept at 326 Huey P Long Ave. as Brown Butter Depot. Beck was forced to close the former iteration of the restaurant after an 8-year run when the landlord decided to convert the restaurant’s building into a medical facility.

The upcoming Brown Butter Depot takes inspiration from the historic train depot across the street, and Beck recently told the Times-Picayune that he wanted to maintain continuity with the former restaurant at that West Bank location, which was called the Gretna Depot Cafe and Spirits. On social media, Brown Butter Depot announced that it would bring back many favorite dishes from the Mid-City location, which could include a pimento cheeseburger, poutine, boudin egg rolls, or smoked brisket.
