Ashley Volet, a passionate “charcuterista” and food artist, has announced the launch of a Kickstarter campaign to bring her dream of opening a Sorrenteaux Boards storefront to life.
Growing up in a family-owned restaurant in Calabasas, California, Volet’s love for food and hospitality was nurtured from an early age, according to the campaign. Today, she is married to a former NOLA-trained chef who shares her passion for culinary delights. Their combined love for feeding souls and creating food art inspired the name “Sorrenteaux,” which pays homage to places close to their hearts.
The Sorrenteaux storefront will be situated at 143 Allen Toussaint Blvd, in the vibrant neighborhood of Lakeview, less than 20 minutes from downtown New Orleans. With excellent street visibility, convenient parking, and proximity to a grocery store, the location is perfect for the vision Volet has in mind. The store will offer an array of options, from grab-and-go’s and themed platters to lunch menus, seasonal sandwiches, salads, and frozen cocktails to go.
Volet’s Kickstarter campaign seeks to raise $25,000 to cover essential expenses such as kitchen equipment, prep tables, refrigeration, retail displays, decor, and inventory stocking. While the estimated cost is closer to $35-$40K, Volet is taking a realistic approach to ensure that the goal is met and the campaign is successful. The funds raised will not only facilitate the initial phase of opening but will also enable quicker staffing, leading to more opportunities to serve their customers.
The Sorrenteaux Kickstarter campaign is an all-or-nothing endeavor, and backers will only be charged if the full $25,000 goal is reached. Every pledge and share of the campaign will contribute to creating a delightful space where life’s celebrations are cherished, recipes are shared, and the joy of charcuterie boards is spread to all.
