After an ignominious, meme-ified run under previous management, Banks Street Bar is a popular neighborhood spot in Mid-City that is currently going through renovations and a new ownership group says the old place will be better run and safer when it reopens in December. Located at 4401 Banks St., the Banks Street Bar got roasted online in 2022 after an apparently spurned former employee commandeered the Instagram account; revealing the entire staff had been fired, and then invited to reapply for their old jobs. The bar closed with little fanfare earlier this year.

A new ownership group with links to the nearby Bayou Beer and Wine Garden has taken over and is currently renovating the space. According to NOLA.com, renovations will include a new sound system and soundproofing for live music. A revamped beverage program will include draft beer, frozen drinks, and mixed drinks. A small takeout restaurant attached to the bar recently reopened as Bub’s Burgers, which has its own cult following.
