Fans of White Castle or Krystal know that a fast food chain selling sliders isn’t a novel concept. However, Smalls Sliders is carving out its own niche in the small burger market by having a few modern twists in its concept.
Local entrepreneur Troy Henry is apparently a big fan of the Smalls Sliders concept, and his Henry Consulting firm recently signed an agreement that will bring four locations to New Orleans, according to a press release. Henry said the first of four new Crescent City locations will open by the summer of 2024 and the site is currently being approved.
These won’t be your traditional brick-and-mortar fast food locations. Per the unique Smalls Sliders business concept, the restaurants are housed in a unique modular design that resembles a large shipping container. The company says this allows for quick construction and property flexibility.
But it’s the burgers that truly set Smalls Sliders apart from other slider chains. Rather than serving up limp brown patties, Smalls serves fresh, cooked-to-order burgers that are a step up in quality compared to little burgers from other chains.
The opening of the New Orleans locations comes as the chain is making moves to expand nationally. Smalls Sliders CEO Maria Rivera said partnering with prominent entrepreneurs like Henry is a sign that the company is on the right growth track.
“This kind of growth is a testament to how strongly we, alongside our franchisees, believe in this concept and in our product,” she said in the press release.
Smalls Sliders was developed by Brandon Landry, with backing from former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees and the 10 Point Capital investment group. The first location opened in 2019 and there are currently nine locations in Louisiana. According to the company, there are currently more than 80 locations in development. Smalls Sliders is gaining recognition and QSR magazine featured the company in its “40/40 List for 2022: America’s Hottest Startup Fast Casuals.”
