Known for its sizzling fajitas, stuffed burritos, and frosty margaritas, the Superior Grill on St. Charles Avenue has been a popular spot for celebrations since opening in 1997 and now the New Orleans location of the Tex-Mex restaurant chain is in the midst of an expansion that will allow it to accommodate parties as large as 150 guests.
“Before, we couldn’t accommodate 150 guests without taking up a lot of dining space that we normally use for customers,” general manager McKinley Eastman told What Now New Orleans. “So we will be able to do that and host private parties. We are looking to extend this location in that direction a little bit.”
The ability to host events will only make the restaurant more popular as it’s already a bustling spot. Superior Grill has a winning formula on its hands with hand-rolled tortillas and meats cooked over a mesquite grill. A brunch menu is available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays. In addition to the great food, Superior Grill hosts a Happy Hour every day, with drink specials on large margaritas and mixed drinks.
Superior Grill is in Uptown, right by the St. Charles Avenue Streetcar Line and Mardi Gras parade routes. In fact, the restaurant needs to significantly scale up its operations every carnival season. On a typical weekday, the restaurant might serve 250 for dinner, but during Mardi Gras season, it often serves triple that number. Naturally, Superior Grill hosts a Cinco de Mayo party every year.
