When Maple Street Patisserie recently closed its retail operation, Uptown lost one of its go-to spots for cupcakes, mini king cakes and other sweet treats. Fortunately, the Covington-based Zoe’s Bakery is set to open a “flagship” patisserie in the same location by the end of summer at 7638 Maple St., according to owner Shane Gorringe.

“We’ve completely transformed the place,” he told What Now New Orleans. “It looks like you’re walking into a European pastry shop in Paris, or somewhere like that.”

Having much more space with which to operate, Gorringe said his newest bakery called Zoe’s on Maple will work on a grander scale, making celebration cakes and gingerbread villages around the holiday season. He added that the new location will also have many of the favorite sweet and savory treats found at other Zoe’s locations, such as croissants, scones, cinnamon rolls, and king cakes during carnival season. The new location will be the fourth for the successful bakery, which recently opened a location in the City Market on Elysian Fields Avenue.

“It’s taken quite a lot do to this one,” Gorringe said. “Obviously, if this one’s successful, there will be opportunities to do more.”
