Libertine is set to permanently close after three years in operation. The restaurant will serve its final dinner on May 23 at its New York location. Inspired by French culture and cuisine, the restaurant serves dishes like tartare de boeuf, oeufs mayonnaise, and jambon persille.
Greenwich Street’s Finest French Bistro Libertine Announces Closure
Libertine, a cozy French bistro situated in the heart of New York City, owned by Cody Pruitt and Executive Chef Max Mackinnon, it started its journey in May 2023. The final service of the restaurant will coincide with its third anniversary.
“Libertine will turn three years old on Saturday, May 23rd. That evening will also be our final service,” said Cody in an Instagram post.
He added, “I am beyond proud of what we’ve built with our little bistro. What was meant to be a humble slice of regional France tucked into a quiet West Village corner became something far greater than any of us could have imagined.”

The bistro built a steady following for its seasonal French menu and intimate dining experience.

After the restaurant shared the closure announcement, loyal customers expressed their sadness online.

In the post, Cody also expressed a great deal of gratitude for the community and Libertine’s team. He shared, “I’m deeply grateful to our team, our guests, our partners, and everyone who helped make this candle burn a little brighter.”
With the closure of West Village corner bistro, Libertine, the community says goodbye to a gem of New York’s dining scene. However, the eatery has said, “It’s not au revoir… just à bientôt,” meaning they will come back soon with some new concept.
