Two experienced restaurant and entertainment veterans are hoping to bring an original, one-of-a-kind cocktail bar to the Lower East Side.

Father and son Brian and Thomas Viola are moving towards opening a cocktail bar at 120 Orchard Street. Operating as Arpeggio1 Hospitality, the duo are on the docket to attend Community Board 3’s SLA & DCA Licensing Committee meeting in May to share their plans.

According to Eater NY, the space was previously occupied by Max Fish, and before that the Old Orchard Bar. The most recent tenant was The Orchard Room, which has been listed as closed on Yelp since April.

Based on a liquor license application filed with Community Board 3, the yet unnamed concept in the Lower East Side will have dancing and third party promoters. The application indicates that Arpeggio1 Hospitality’s lease will cover the ground floor and basement level of 120 Orchard Street.

In a phone conversation with What Now NY, Arpeggio1 Hospitality’s Thomas Viola, who will be the establishment’s General Manager, discussed plans to operate the space as a cocktail lounge with a menu of Italian bites.

A rendering of the proposed renovations to the space indicates plans to create a ceiling to mimic the night’s sky.

Many details are still in the works and pending approval, so there is no estimate on when doors might open.
