Get ready New York, a sexy new dessert bar is on its way to the Lower East Side. Kinky’s Dessert Bar is a brand new restaurant concept from the founders of Fluffy’s NYC.
Fluffy’s NYC was founded by John DeWindt, a restaurant professional with over 11 years of experience, in 2019. Described as his take on the wildly popular Asian style soufflé pancakes, a Fluffy is somewhere in the middle between a soufflé and a pancake. Fluffies are notoriously – you guessed it – fluffy, and are described by John as “like eating a fluffy, jiggly cloud.”
John, who also started John’s Juice in 2017, is looking forward to bringing his expertise with him on his next venture. While John’s Juice and Fluffy’s both became regulars at Smorgasburg in Williamsburg, this will be his first full brick-and-mortar location.
Replacing an art gallery that previously operated at 181 Orchard Street, the new venture is an exciting opportunity for John and his team. While they’ve thrived in the pop-up scene, this is their chance to create a brand new, custom experience for fans of their delicious dessert. Operating under the name Kinky’s Dessert Bar, it’s safe to say that the new concept should be quite the sexy experience.
As their marketing copy says, “We set out to combine two of America’s favorite things and bring them under one roof: Desserts & Sex! Be prepared for an experience that is bound to take your mind and taste buds by storm, let the tease begin!”
While John and his team continue to tease New York with promises of sexy new desserts, be sure to visit his Smorgasburg popup on Saturday afternoons to try out one of his famous Fluffies.
