The 11-year-old neighborhood bar, ABC Beer Co, in Alphabet City, has submitted an application to the city to make renovations.
This summer the team sought approval to make alterations to their interior premises with the primary goal of being able to seat more guests. Its proposed changes include replacing their retail beer refrigerators with three high-top tables and bar stools slated, moving their retail beer refrigerator to the opposite wall, replacing the four leather armchairs in the rear seating area with three sets of wide banquettes and replacing the rear table for two in the back with a backless bench against the wall, all of which would help to create more seating in the space.
The hybrid beer bar and store aims to serve a selection of beers from New York City-based breweries, including Other Half, Finback, KCBC and Grimm. It also offers select bar food such as pretzels with mustard, cheese or Nutella dip.
Over the years, the neighborhood craft beer-centric bar has hosted trivia nights, runner’s groups meet-ups, birthdays and other events. In its proposal, a managing member of the team, David Hitchner, wrote, “We have had our current configuration for over 11 years and are looking to rework our space to make it more accommodating for these groups.”
