An exciting new restaurant is currently under development from one of New York’s most dog-friendly restaurant operators.

Barking Dog Restaurant is a popular Uptown restaurant from owners Emin Alliu, Ergys Janku and Sokol Kaci. Known for serving classic American fare in a dog-friendly establishment, the restaurant has been a neighborhood staple since it was established years ago on third avenue. While NYC health guidelines prohibit indoor dining with animals, Barking Dog goes out of its way to be as accommodating as possible with dog-toting guests, providing every amenity their canine companion could imagine, including the popular “doggy drinking fountain”.

In fact, Barking Dog’s recent expansion to Hell’s Kitchen has already been covered by What Now New York’s handsome and popular reporters. Now though, Sokol and the team are planning on debuting an entirely new restaurant at 1645 Third Avenue. The restaurant, which has yet to be named, was described by legal representative Michael Kelley as a “full service Italian restaurant,” and is currently operating under the name Enzo Group NYC INC.

The new restaurant will be moving into the space formerly occupied by Corner Cafe and Bakery. Corner Cafe was a popular bakery that served the neighborhood for years before closing, but thankfully they still operate another location further north in the Bronx. The location is rather spacious for the area, and offers enough space to comfortably seat 130 guests at one time. The restaurant is expected to participate in the DOT Open Restaurant program as well, which will enable guests to enjoy the summer weather as they dine outdoors.

The team is currently proposing operating hours of 10:00 AM – 1:00 AM, seven days a week, and their proposition went unopposed by the community board. Unfortunately, Sokol and the team are still too early in development to share further details, so you will have to wait until they launch the social media accounts for the new restaurant.
