Avast ye mateys and prepare for plunder! There’s gold in them hills and it’s just begging to be found! That’s right, there’s a new bar in town for all the wonderful treasure hunters of New York.

Tentatively titled Treasure Club International, Treasure Club is the latest project from bar owner Chris Yerington. The new bar will be opening up later at 22 Orchard Street, between Hester and Canal street.

Chris Yerington is an East Village regular, having worked in the neighborhood for decades. Together with his brother John, the two ran the popular Black and White bar. Black and White was especially famous in the East Village music scene and often attracted musicians and fans coming off concerts like Warped Tour. Black and White struck an intriguing balance between dive bar and mainstream bar. Attracting everyone from East Village punks, NYU students, and young professionals, Black and White was a watering hole that truly gathered people of all stripes.

Chris’s brother, John, operates quite a few bars in the neighborhood. His most popular bars still in operation include Niagara, Tiki Bar, Bowery Electric, Pizza Shop, and Cabin Down Below, his latest speakeasy concept. With a pedigree like that behind him, Chris is bound to attract a lot of attention to Treasure Club.

Treasure Club will replacing Fung Tu, the long dormant Chinese restaurant that has been occupying the space in the north store at 22 Orchard Street. Fung Tu shut its doors for good in 2017, and the space has remained vacant since.

Not much is known about Treasure Club at the moment, other than that it will serve tavern food in a casual environment. Regardless, with so many great memories at Black and White, locals will be thrilled to check out Chris’s latest bar.
