When browsing through a bookstore’s shelves, some might dream of writing a book. Others might get lost in thought about the worlds within them. Others might wonder what it would be like to work in or even own a bookstore.

A new entrepreneur in Brooklyn’s Carroll Gardens neighborhood is soon to accomplish all of these things. Recently published author and owner of Liz’s Book Bar, Maura Cheeks, knows a thing or two about the kinds of books and beverages readers and writers are looking for.

What Now NY was not able to immediately connect with Cheeks for a comment.

According to Liz’s Book Bar’s website, the bookstore and bar will carry 4,000 titles of literary fiction as will have additional sections for memoirs, poetry collection, romance title, and philosophy books.

Based on a floorplan shared on Liz’s Book Bar’s Instagram page, there will be a bar serving coffee, tea, beer and wine immediately visible when you walk inside. There will be couches throughout the space for patrons to take a seat, take a sip and take in the atmosphere of the bookstore.

Reporting by Eater NY describes Liz’s Book Bar as a bookstore bar “serving up books alongside coffee by day, and wine and beer by night.”

Cheeks mentions on the Liz’s Book Bar website that the concept is named in honor of her grandmother Liz who took her to bookstores when she was young.

A statement on the website describes Liz’s Book Bar as “a liberated community building toward a new creative pursuit, grown out of a love for literature and the arts.”

Liz’s Book Bar is expected to open in June.
