Lolo’s Chicken Shack was a popular chicken restaurant that used to operate at 152 West 52nd Street in the Urbanspace Food Hall. Serving up fresh and tasty chicken on demand, Lolo’s became a victim of unfortunate timing, having opened in January of 2020, only two months before the outbreak of Covid-19 and the global pandemic. Despite the popularity of the chicken, the young restaurant couldn’t sustain such a drastic shock and was forced to permanently shutter its doors.

Thankfully, that’s about to change. According to a liquor license application submitted to Manhattan’s Community Board 7, Lolo’s Chicken Shack, previously featured at the Urbanspace Food Hall, is finally reopening as a full, standalone brick-and-mortar restaurant at 2799 Broadway at the corner of West 108th Street.

Lolo’s is owned and operated by Leticia Skai Young, founder of Time Hospitality Group. Young has been working in hospitality and entertainment for over a decade, and opened her first restaurant with Chef Raymond Mohan, Lolo’s Seafood Shack in 2014. Serving up elevated Caribbean dishes in a fast-casual environment, Lolo’s became one of the top seafood destinations in Harlem. Young and Mohan have been cultivating an impressive reputation ever since opening the seafood shack, and fans have been eagerly awaiting signs for their next project.

While the original Lolo’s Chicken Shack was short lived, its arrival was hotly anticipated by locals. The good news though is that the new location will have its very own bar and has already been approved for the license. Replacing Cascabel Taqueria at 2799 Broadway, the new location will enable Leticia and Raymond to expand their food and drink menu.

Lolo’s Chicken Shack is expected to be more social than a simple chicken shack, and will feature live jazz music to be played during brunches. As it stands, the team behind Lolo’s is hoping to be operational within the next two months.
