An exciting new Indian restaurant is currently getting ready to move into a recently vacated space in Midtown.

Sitara Fine Indian Grill is a new restaurant from owner Sharma Teerath. Moving into the space at 152 East 46th Street, Sitara will be replacing Darbar Grill. Darbar Grill was a popular Indian restaurant that operated at the space for nearly 20 years, and was long established as one of Midtown’s go-to spots for fine Indian Cuisine. Darbar also featured a popular catering service, hosting numerous events and providing freshly cooked food for everyone involved. While Darbar sadly closed on 46th street, they also operate a second location on 55th street that is still going strong.

Now, Sharma has taken over the space on 46th Street and is bringing to life a brand new concept. Envisioned as another Indian restaurant, the space is well-suited to meet Sharma’s needs. The space offers a maximum capacity of 120 guests and is relatively spacious the neighborhood. Fans of the restaurant even showed up to the community board hearing to voice their support for reopening the space.

Sharma is currently in the process of applying for a new on-premise liquor license for the space. According to the application, Sitara is expected to operate daily from 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM, seven days a week. Unfortunately, Sharma could not be reached for further comment, but should any information change as the story progresses, we will be sure to provide you with a timely update.
