A brand new wine bar is currently slated to open up on the corner of Fort Tryon Park, describing itself as “Influenced by South America, Inspired By The World.”

Fito Wine Bar is a brand new wine bar from owners Felix and Fatima Abarca. As the Head Bartender of Cocina Chente and General Manager of Tin Marin Restaurant, Felix is bringing with him years of experience in the industry as he prepares to open his very first restaurant. Fatima, meanwhile, has a history of intrepid entrepreneurship and is the founder of Made By Baba, a sustainable lifestyle company that focuses on skincare products made with premium ingredients.

Together, the two first-time restaurant owners have finally accrued enough experience to finally bring their concept to life. Designed as a tribute to South American cuisine with in an international twist, Fito is currently in the process of attaining a restaurant wine license from the state of New York.

Moving into the space at 4736 Broadway, Fito will be replacing Tannat Market & Tavern, which previously operated in the space. Tanat was a popular tavern that specialized in wine, cheese, and sustainable local ingredients. Crafting every recipe from scratch, Tannat offered private dinners and pop-ups for locals looking to celebrate extra-special occasions. Sadly, Tannat’s business model couldn’t sustain the unforeseen consequences of the global pandemic, and the business has since permanently shuttered its doors. With an actual capacity of 36 guests, the space is cozy and intimate, and is expected to be open from 3 PM – 12 AM Sunday through Wednesday and 3 PM – 2 AM Thursday through Saturday.
